I'm surprised the President would take such a risk at election time.

I had a hard time following the Presidents logic in the article, but I guess they know what they are doing.

Hello Allen!

He is one gutsy President, eh? I swallowed hard when I heard this. Instead of diddling around in the lower courts, this gambit is bold and clear. My understanding is that any challenge is premature and cannot be ruled on.

Great seed!

He's tactically going to overwhelm the right wing and add to their fragmentation. United they can stand, but a multi-front battle will surely divide them and divided they will fall.

October Surprise?

Out flank em Obama!

Great article, thanks for sharing. There are a few on the supreme court that worry me. That is my main concern. Let's hope the nation gets to see all of the benefits from this health reform.

No risk, he knows they would go in his favor, nothing illegal about it.

If ruled otherwise, then what of Social Security and Medicare?

Note that those, too, had to withstand federal lawsuits.

True

But could you imagine the mess the government would have otherwise, they'd have to refund ALL that money. That's why it will NEVER be overturned.

Obama THINKS it will get through the Supreme Court.....NOT the way it stands! 26 states (the majority in our Country) have filed suits against. There will be more states to follow! When push comes to shove....Obama will be disappointed!

It takes the "we just don't know " argument away from the GOP. Anything that gets settled in August can become something of a non-issue by November. It is really kind of a win win for Obama if his people spin it the right way. If it wins approval he is vindicated and can trot it out. if it loses, it will be seen as a GOP victory that will cause millions who are currently covered to suddenly lose the insurance if the law is no longer enforceable.

If that is the plan. As much respect as I have, the dems have not been strong at getting the message out.

True, but the man knows his Constitutional law.

I know that our family has already benefited from the ACA. Our Daughter got some medical care this year since we could have her on our insurance. Hard to think taht there might be some conservatives out there who would not have their child covered when they can, so they may get a rude message if it changes.

I am sure he would not have made this call if he was not confident it would pass the test, I don't think he would have signed the legislation if there was a question of constitutionality. Unfortunately we live in a time when the Supreme court is openly lobbied and significantly influenced by political dogma.

Yes, the Kochs behind the bench. I wonder if any of the justices might need to recuse themselves for conflict of interest...

Actually, I see that they are now pressing Thomas and for an investigation. With one out, I would feel more at ease.

Allen, thank you!

Was happy when I saw your name pop up. Always one of my favs!

Took me a while. I had been doing chickens and garden--busy summer and by the time I got back I had forgotten my login! I owe Tyler, who gave me a hint which allowed me to search around and find it. (Now I am off Facebook for similiar problems...LOL)
